The National Examinations Council NECO has released the guidelines for registration of candidates for the National Common Entrance Examination (NCEE) for admission into Junior Secondary School (JSS 1) of Federal Government Unity Colleges in Nigeria.
The National Common Entrance Examination (NCEE) is for admission into Junior Secondary School (JSS 1) of Federal Government Unity Colleges. The Examination is open to only final year pupils of Primary Schools in Nigeria.
The National Common Entrance Examination (NCEE) for admission into JSS 1 of Federal Unity Schools for 2022 is scheduled to hold throughout the country on Saturday 7th May, 2022.
ELIGIBILITY
Only final year pupils of primary schools who shall not be less than 10 years by September 2022 are eligible.
REGISTRATION PROCEDURE
Registration for the 2022 NCEE is strictly online. Registration can ONLY be done on the NECO official website at www.neco.gov.ng
To register candidate(s) for NCEE, Head Teachers, Parents/ Guardians who are existing users are to login with their credentials to register.
New users are to follow the steps below to register a candidate:
Step 1: Visit neco.gov.ng/ncee
Step 2: Create an online account using your phone number and email address.
Step 3: Activate the account by clicking on the activation link sent to your email.
Step 4: Make payment into the NECO TSA using the following payment options that include:
- CREDIT/DEBIT CARD
- BANK BRANCH
- USSD
- INTERNET BANKING
- WALLET
Step 5: Enter the candidate’s bio-data and upload his/her passport size photograph
Step 6: Print photo card.
HOW TO MAKE PAYMENT
Registration fee: The registration fee for the 2022 NCEE is Four Thousand Five Hundred (N4,500.00) Naira only, per candidate.
Payment for the National Common Entrance Examination is done on the NECO portal, as outlined in the steps above.
STRUCTURE OF THE EXAMINATION
The examination will consist of the following:
- PAPER I
Part A – Mathematics and Basic Science and Technology
Part B – English and National Values Education - PAPER II
Part A – Quantitative and Vocational Aptitude
Part B – Verbal Aptitude

To enable you make informed decision in selecting the desired school, see the Full List of Federal Government Colleges (Unity Schools) in Nigeria by State and Geopolitical Zones here.
Note that Candidates are to choose three (3) Federal Unity Colleges as First (1st), Second (2nd) and Third (3rd) choices. That is, one (1) school each from a geopolitical zone.
Qualified candidates that chose oversubscribed Colleges are liable to be placed at any available alternative College, according to the carrying capacities of the Federal Unity Colleges.
Change of Name, Date of Birth and/or State of Origin will not be entertained after registering a candidate online.
