The Federal Government has commenced the payment of few outstanding allowances of the Batches A and B of the 2016 and 2018 NPOWER Volunteers Nationwide.
It would be recalled that payments to some of the beneficiaries for the 2016 and 2018 NPOWER Batches A and B volunteers were withheld due to some suspected irregularities in the recruitment and payment processes.
In a statement by the permanent secretary ministry for Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Alhaji Bashir Alkali, the Ministry carried out a detail investigation in collaboration with relevant Government Agencies in which accounts of 9,066 beneficiaries were cleared and the sum of one hundred and fifty thousand Naira will be paid to each of them.
The Ministry however still withheld payments into accounts of 4,955 other beneficiaries pending the conclusion of investigations as the Ministry identified clear violations of the program’s agreement.
The statement indicates that the Ministry regrets the delay experienced in the payments of the allowances, noting that it will not compromise transparency and accountability in all of its activities.
