Nasarawa State Establishes Technology Village for Information Technology (IT) Learning

The Nasarawa State Government has concluded arrangements to build a world class Technology Village in the State, similar to Silicon Valley in the United States of America, for the advancement of Information Technology (IT) learning in the State.

The Nasarawa State Technology Village to be built, when completed will comprise of categories of houses for both low and high income earners as well as Hospital, Schools, Police Station, Religious Centers and Market.

Signing the agreement at the Government house Lafia, Governor Abdullahi Sule explained that the Technology Village was a dream come true, conceived in 2013 when he visited Silicon Valley in the United States of America and when completed will generate revenue and create job opportunities to the teaming youths across the State.

“The Nasarawa Technology Village is aimed at attracting major international IT firms to Nasarawa State now that we have selected an area that has the closest proximity to the Federal Capital and in a state that we are very lucky that the level of insecurity is minimal.”

The State Government yesterday signed a N22 billion Naira agreement with a private firm for the construction of 2000 housing units under the Nasarawa Technology Village in Karu Local Government Area of the State.

Signing the agreement at the Government house Lafia, Governor Abdullahi Sule urged the Managing Director of the consortium to expedite action for the realization of the project.

The Managing Director of the Consortium Muhammad Suleiman who commended the State Government on the terms of his engagement into the project, said the Technology village is situated on 67 hectares of land and would create thousands of jobs to the youths of the State.

“This Technology Village to be operated by the Decagon Learning Institute will provide fully funded training for up to 2000 students and IT enthusiasts each year. Decagon will secure outsourced jobs for the graduates upon completion of their program and becoming certified software engineers”.

The managing Director assured the state governor to deliver quality job within the time frame.

The director General Nasarawa Geographic Information Service (NAGIS), Mr. Sony Adasy and Managing Director Nasarawa State Investment and Development Agency, Mr. Ibrahim Abdullahi signed on behalf of the State Government, while the Managing Director Muhammad Suleiman Signed on behalf of his firm.
